|RHistory:|N In 1719 Liechtenstein became i duchy within the Holy Roman Empire. In 1806 it left this Empire and joined the Rhine Union and 1815 the German Union. When this Union was dissolved i 1866 Liechtenstein became in independent country.
Liechtenstein have the same monetary system as Switzerland since 1921. Switzerland also manages the foreign affairs.
